OVERVIEW
Macro stories can help us learn from micro stories. Children’s books often have implicit meanings to help teach us a universal life lesson. Ferdinand’s Life Lessons is a book that emphasises that kind of learning. The main objective is to enable the reader to teach different life lessons as they read the classic story, Ferdinand the Bull, to a child.
SOLUTION
Rather than create two separate books, I decided to combine the lesson plans and Ferdinand the Bull story right into one book. I created new illustrations, inspired by the original black and white drawings from Ferdinand the Bull. I created a flower theme with alternating watercolor backgrounds for each life lesson taught. Each section of the book includes a found text on the psychology or philosophy of that lesson that is under a transparent page, to create texture and mimic synergy.
